With clear vision to give as many talented children as possible the chance to perform in the UK and beyond, Angels tour 2008 presented the Children from Tiger Kloof, South Africa - further enhancing the lives of children.

Sixteen musically gifted children produced wonderful exhilarating musical performances, delivering raw and energetic dance which they combined with beautiful and inspiring Gospel and Choral Compilations made this year yet another sell out tour for Angels. The special display of uniquely choreographed 'Traditional' and the highly acclaimed foot stomping 'Gum Boot' Dancing - Angels South Africa brought the very essence of their community to ours. Their infectious movement and dance enchanted all audiences with the array and richness of pure South African Culture.

"Their performances rich in magical African storey telling was told through the medium of song and dance. The children's performances included the highly creative and vibrant Gumboot dancing, born in native South Africa in the Gold Mines at the height of Apartheid. In the mines the migrant workers were forbidden to speak and with their uniform issue 'Wellington Boots' they found a way of communicating, by slapping their Gum Boots and rattling their ankle chains. The enslaved workers sent messages to each other in the bleak darkness. Today, Gumboot Dancing has developed into a South African Art form, dancers have expanded the traditional steps and made the dance more contemporary, using the body as an instrument to express the richness and complexities of South African culture.

The UK school workshops saw a wave of children "learning the steps of this 'new' dance form, working together and sharing cultures was an unforgettable experience for all of the children."

"This colourful, vibrant and intensely physical tour, delivered it's promises, it was both exciting and memorable - delighting all audiences of all ages. "
